The Department of Immigration and National Registration also shared two prosecution sessions conducted under the Immigration Act Chapter 17.
Edwin Yun Kok Kim @ Md Yazid bin Abdullah, a Malaysian man and a transfer case from the Royal Brunei Police Force was sentenced for two offences, namely theft and re-entry into the country after being lawfully deported or repatriated. The individual pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight months imprisonment for the first offence and 2 years and 9 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whipping for the second offence. The sentence is effective from 8th October 2025.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Babul Hossain, a Bangladeshi man was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of whipping after pleading guilty for overstaying in the country after his immigration pass has expired. The sentence is effective from 7th October 2025.
