The First Series of the National Disaster Exercise 2026 or LBK 01/2026 took place for three days starting the 23rd of June 2026 as an effort to strengthen the country's preparedness in facing any possible large-scale disaster. The national-level disaster management exercise was jointly organised by the National Disaster Management Centre, NDMC, and the Fire and Rescue Department, Ministry of Home Affairs. A press conference was held on the occasion at the Dewan Persidangan, Bridex, Jerudong.
Colonel Muhammad Wata bin Abdullah Awat, Acting Director of the National Disaster Management Centre, in a press conference explained the main objective of the exercise, which is to test the level of preparedness of agencies involved in facing large-scale disaster situations. In addition, the exercise also identified gaps, challenges and areas for improvement in the country's disaster management, aside from strengthening cooperation between agencies through a Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Nation approach.
