His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, held a meeting with Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia in conjunction with the 26th Annual Leaders' Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia. The Meeting was held at Seri Perdana Complex, Putrajaya, 27th August 2025. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and was presented with a cultural performance. His Majesty also signed the visitor's book and was invited to join Yang Amat Berhormat the Prime Minister of Malaysia for an official photo.
The 26th Annual Leaders' Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia began with both Leaders witnessing the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of Malaysia namely: 'Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of Malaysia on the Cooperation in Health'. Representing the Government of His Majesty was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health; and representing the Government of Malaysia was Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr. Haji Dzulkefly bin Ahmad, Minister of Health.
His Majesty then attended a Four-Eye Meeting with Yang Amat Berhormat in which both leaders discussed overall bilateral relations, in particular the progress of the implementation of the Exchange of Letters, a key agreement signed between the two countries in 2009, as well as regional and international issues of mutual importance.
An Official Luncheon was hosted by Yang Amat Berhormat the Prime Minister of Malaysia in conjunction with the 26th Annual Leaders' Consultation. The Annual Consultations between the Heads of Government of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, which have been held since 1997, is an important forum for both countries to hold discussions to examine existing bilateral cooperation, as well as explore potential collaboration in new areas.
