Thirty-eight Bruneian students were celebrated at the Brunei Darussalam Graduates Convocation Ceremony for the 2026 academic year, held recently at Dewan Fousthat, Al-Azhar Conference Centre in Nasr City, Egypt.
The ceremony honoured graduates from Al-Azhar University and Ma’had Qiraat Shoubra Al-Azhar for successfully completing their studies in the 2025/2026 academic session.
The guest of honour was Secretary-General of the Al-Azhar Academy of Islamic Research Prof Dr Muhammad Abdel Daim Al-Jindi.
The ceremony began with a recitation of the Al-Quran by one of the graduates, followed by the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
A welcoming address was delivered by Awang Shahrul Nazim bin Kanafiah, chairman of the ceremony and representative of the graduating students.
The guest of honour then officiated the presentation of certificates to the graduates. Outstanding Student Awards were also presented to graduates who achieved the highest academic honours during the 2025/2026 academic session.
The ceremony aimed to recognise the graduates’ academic achievements and encourage them as they embark on the next stage of their lives, contributing to Brunei Vision 2035 and the nation’s aspiration to develop a highly educated, skilled and successful population.
