The 50th Anniversary of the Armed Forces for the National Liberation of Timor-Leste was held recently in Dili, The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. Leading the Ministry of Defence delegation to the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence.
Also present was Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF, and Awang Mohammad Dino bin Haji Ayup, Charge d' Affaires of the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. Earlier, an International Conference was held at the Main Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation that was officiated by His Excellency Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. This was followed by the Remembrance Ceremony.
Yang Berhormat Pehin also had the opportunity to call on His Excellency Rear Admiral Donaciano Costa Gomes “Pedro Klamar Fuik", Ph.D., Minister of Defence of Timor-Leste at the Ministry of Defence. Both sides discussed defence matters and regional security issues of mutual concern.
