539 enforcement vehicles handed over

A launching ceremony for the five-year Vehicle Supply and Leasing Project for Security and Enforcement Agencies was held yesterday at the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Headquarters, with the official handover of 539 vehicles comprising 304 cars and 235 motorcycles to participating agencies.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by an address by Acting Director of Logistics Department under the RBPF Assistant Commissioner of Police Zaila Haji Zaini, who also serves as head of the Project Secretariat.

The initiative falls under the Fiscal Consolidation Programme spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance, designed to strengthen financial governance whilst enhancing the overall efficiency of government service delivery.

The project involves four agencies: the RBPF, Internal Security Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, and the Land Transport Department.

The implementation of the project is expected to generate government savings through a standardised and centralised procurement approach, while reducing the deployment of existing manpower.

Through the project, it is aimed at ensuring swifter agency response times, a more visible enforcement presence, and greater public confidence.

Furthermore, improved operational outcomes for each agency are expected to contribute to more effective law enforcement.

The event continued with the official handover of the vehicles under the Vehicle Supply and Leasing Project to the agencies involved.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Security and Law) Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu was the guest of honour. Commissioner of Police at the RBPF Dato Paduka Seri Sulaiman bin Alidin, Permanent Secretary (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office Zulhusam bin Haji Abdul Samad who serves as Chairman of the Project Steering Committee, Deputy Commissioner of Police at the RBPF Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammed Saifullah bin Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, alongside permanent secretaries, directors, deputy directors, government officials, and representatives from the vendor companies were also in attendance.
