A total of 80 frontliners from the tourism and hospitality sector completed the Service Excellence Training under the nationwide MESRA campaign, implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry through the Department of Tourism Development to raise service delivery standards and enhance visitor experiences ahead of Visit Brunei Year 2027.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Mohammad Harris bin Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, guest of honour, presented certificates to participants during a ceremony held on Saturday at Dewan Setia Pahlawan.
Conducted across four sessions from August 31 to September 29, 2026, in collaboration with appointed training provider The Oak Tree Services, the programme focused on strengthening customer service capabilities, professional interaction, and effective communication tailored to industry needs.
Participants included registered tour guides under the Department of Tourism Development, Royal Brunei Airlines check-in staff and cabin crew, as well as frontliners stationed across various tourism sites.
Through the sessions, participants gained practical skills to deliver professional, friendly, and responsive services, including engaging effectively with visitors from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The initiative aimed to strengthen competence and communication while elevating visitor satisfaction, supporting Brunei Darussalam’s image as a safe, clean, welcoming, and high-quality destination.
The next training session is scheduled for this month, involving officers from the Immigration and National Registration Department and the Royal Customs and Excise Department, alongside broader hospitality stakeholders such as accommodation and dining operators. – James Kon
