Brunei Darussalam participated in the 88th ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology and Innovation, COSTI 88 Meeting and related meetings in Bangkok Thailand. The Meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation as well as encourage regional competition in the fields of science, technology and innovation in ASEAN.
The country's delegation was led by Engineer Mohammad Nazri bin Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry oof Transport and Infocommunications. The COSTI-88 Meeting approved the restructuring of the sub-committee under COS-TI to improve efficiency, strengthen programme implementations and optimise the use of resources in the regional science, technology and innovation agenda.
Following the COSTI-88 Meeting, the 13th Meeting of the ASEAN-U.S. Consultancy on Science and Technology, the 12th Meeting of the ASEAN-Russia Working Group on Science, Technology and Innovation and the 2nd Meeting Of ASEAN-United Kingdom Dialogue On Science, Technology And Innovation were held. The meetings focused on the development of science, technology and innovation cooperation between ASEAN and its dialogue partners, the United States, Russia and the United Kingdom.
Also held was the presentation of the award for the Senior Scientist Category to Doctor Hajah Wida Susanty binti Haji Suhaili, Senior Assistant Professor from Universiti Teknologi Brunei. The meeting continued with separate bilateral meetings between the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Singapore as well as Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional, Indonesia.
