10 initiatives of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) the highest number ever achieved in a single year, were successfully adopted at the 19th ADMM at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia. With the theme 'ASEAN Unity for Security and Prosperity', was chaired by Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Minister of Defence of Malaysia, in his capacity as Chairman of the ADMM for 2025.
Brunei Darussalam's delegation to the meeting was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence. Also attending was Awang Mohd Aizul Hakim bin Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Suyoi, Acting High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia.
The meeting also reached consensus on the adoption of the 'Joint Statement by the ASEAN Defence Ministers on the Implementation of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Strategic Plan of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045', and the'Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting on ASEAN Unity for Security and Prosperity.' This year's ADMM marked a historic milestone as Timor-Leste participated in the meeting for the first time as a full member of ASEAN.
Several events were also held on the side-lines of the 19th ADMM. The ASEAN-China Defence Ministers' Luncheon was convened and co-chaired by the Minister of Defence of Malaysia, as Chair of the ADMM, and His Excellency Admiral Dong Jun, Minister of National Defense of the People's Republic of China. This was followed by the ASEAN-India Defence Ministers' Informal Meeting co-chaired Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin and His Excellency Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of Defence of the Republic of India. Brunei Darussalam also held separate bilateral meetings with Malaysia dan Timor Leste.
