ASCC Meeting 2025

ASEAN's priorities for 2025, in an effort to advance the ASEAN Community and strengthen mutual cooperation, were discussed during the 34th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, ASCC Council Meeting held recently at the Sunway Convention Centre, Selangor, Malaysia. Joining the meeting was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as Minister of ASCC for Brunei Darussalam.

During the Meeting, Yang Berhormat emphasized that beyond the framework, indicators and metrics, what matters most to the people of ASEAN is the difference in lives, through markers of success, such as through stronger social protection systems and opening up opportunities for women and youth. The ASCC Ministers also welcomed the progress made in the development of the 'Strategy Playbook on Promoting an Adaptive ASEAN Community of Greater Understanding, Tolerance and a Sense of Regional Agendas among the Peoples of ASEAN', an initiative led by Brunei Darussalam.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports also participated in the ASCC High-Level Forum 2025 held on the 7th of October. Under the theme “Fostering Youth Empowerment and Unlocking Investment for Climate Action and Cultural Creative Industries", Yang Berhormat shared that ASEAN sports cooperation plays an important role in strengthening regional harmony by promoting the spirit of sportsmanship between countries, uniting communities, and fostering discipline and resilience among youth.
