The 49th ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group, MTWG Meeting was held on 30th September afternoon. Engineer Mohammad Nazri bin Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary for Transport at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications in his speech explained that Maritime transport and the role of the 49th MTWG Meeting continues to be relevant in achieving regional connectivity and maritime development. Contemporary issues such as green ships, green shipping corridors, and decarbonisation are proving to be key catalysts shaping the future direction of the maritime domain towards the advancement of a more resilient, sustainable, responsive, and innovative maritime industry. The meeting took place in Berakas.
The Permanent Secretary for Transport said the meeting marks the fourth and final time that Brunei Darussalam will serve as host to the Meeting in the capacity as Chair and commended the hard work that has been done and achieved in the past two years towards strengthening the ASEAN maritime transport sector, including towards the realisation of the ASEAN Single Shipping Market, ASSM.
