Active weather expected across Brunei until Monday

Brunei Darussalam is expected to experience active weather conditions from Wednesday until Monday night, with occasional heavy and thundery showers forecast across the country.

The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department said wind gusts could reach up to 45 kilometres per hour during or near heavy and thundery showers.

The active weather is expected from September 16 until September 21, during the current Southwest Monsoon season, which is expected to continue until the end of September.

The department warned of a high risk of flash floods, landslides, fallen trees and blown-off roofs during heavy showers and gusty conditions.

Members of the public, road users and fishermen are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts, advisories and warnings, and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.

The sea state in Brunei waters is expected to remain generally slight, with waves below one metre.

The department will continue monitoring conditions and issue weather advisories or warnings when necessary.
