Agriculture open day showcases services, technology and local products

The Department of Agriculture and Agrifood is hosting an open day at the Pengkalan Batu Mukim Community Hall in Kampong Parit from Aug 19 until Aug 20 to raise awareness among industry players about its services, as well as products and technologies offered by participating vendors.

Organised by the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the open day is being held for the fourth consecutive year.

The initiative aims to strengthen ties between the department and industry players while providing farmers, crop growers and livestock breeders with opportunities to seek consultations and advice from the department’s various units on common challenges faced in the sector.

A total of 20 local vendors are taking part, showcasing a range of products, technologies and services while delivering briefings and sharing information with visitors.

The open day also features interactive activities, including demonstrations on plant propagation, organic fertiliser application, livestock health care and farm biosecurity.

The activities are designed to benefit industry players and members of the public interested in agriculture and agrifood.

Visitors can also hold one-to-one discussions with participating vendors to obtain information, exchange knowledge and explore products and services relevant to the sector.

The department said the initiative supports the Government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s agriculture and agrifood sector.

It also hopes the open day will provide industry players and the public with a broader understanding of the department’s services while contributing to a stronger agricultural production value chain.

The initiative is aligned with efforts to improve productivity and competitiveness in the country’s agriculture sector.
