Air quality good across Brunei

Air quality in all four districts of Brunei Darussalam on Saturday morning were in the good range, with Brunei-Muara recording a Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) of 48 at 9am.

The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) recorded PSI readings of 34 in Belait, 23 in Temburong and 38 in Tutong.

A PSI reading below 50 is classified as good, while readings of 51 to 100 indicate moderate air quality.

JASTRe said it would continue monitoring air quality and issue updates at 7am, 9am, 11am, 2pm and 4pm during the hazy period.

Since September 1, the PSI reporting system has incorporated PM2.5 concentrations, which measure fine particles smaller than 2.5 micrometres in diameter.

According to the World Health Organization, these particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the bloodstream, potentially affecting cardiovascular and respiratory health.
