The Royal Brunei Police Force, RBPF's Anti-Scam Helpline 16993 will begin operations starting on 30th August 2025, at 8 in the morning. It was launched as part of an ongoing effort by the RBPF in eradicating cyber-crimes, specifically online fraud.
The hotline will act as a first assistance centre for victims or anyone who suspect they have been scammed, by providing immediate guidance, and confirmation before a police report is made. The public are advised to immediately contact 16993 to avoid greater losses and help combat fraud from spreading further.
The RBPF stressed that an official report is still required for further investigation and legal action.
