"Pameran Astronomi: Kaedah Penentuan Awal Bulan Hijri" is held, among other things, to provide exposure on the process and method of observing the hilal or new moon in Islamic teachings and to display the role and priority of the hilal in determining important dates. The one-month exhibition at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, was inaugurated on 1st November afternoon.
The inauguration was officiated by Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain alias Maidin, Deputy State Mufti. Such an exhibition is the first of its kind to be held with the collaboration of the Public Relations, International and MABIMS Divisions; Ministry of Religious Affairs; State Judiciary Department; State Mufti Department; Survey Department and Brunei Darussalam Astronomical Society. The exhibition is also enlivened with various activities including Sunspots Observation, Sunflares and Rukyah Hilal
