His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received in audience The Honourable Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore. The audience ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman, 9th October afternoon. The Honourable and delegation are in the country for a two-day working visit. The visit also aims to explore ways to strengthen collaboration between legislative institutions in ASEAN and to enhance bilateral ties between the legislative institutions of Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore.
Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohammed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohammed Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and Datin Paduka Dr. Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.
During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam congratulated The Honourable on his re-election as the Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore, including bilateral cooperation between the Legislative Council of Brunei Darussalam and the Parliament of Singapore, as well as strengthening mutual understanding in the regional and international context.
