BND75,000 raised for charity as Baiduri Masters 2026 concludes

After two weekends of competition, camaraderie, and community giving, the Baiduri Masters 2026 concluded on Sunday with BND75,000 raised for charity, reaffirming the tournament’s longstanding role as a platform that brings together golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and the wider community in support of meaningful causes.

A total of 653 golfers registered for this year’s tournament. Proceeds from golfers’ registration fees were distributed equally among five charitable organisations – La Vida, SMARTER Brunei, Learning Ladders Society, Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, and An-Nur Harapan, with each organisation receiving BND15,000.

The handing over of the donation took place at a presentation ceremony at Tarindak D’Seni, Bandar Seri Begawan, with Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha attending as the guest of honour.

Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank Ti Eng Hui presented the donation to each charitable organisation. In his remarks, he thanked golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters for contributing to another successful edition of the tournament.

He noted that while the figures were encouraging, the true success of the Baiduri Masters lies in the generosity of the people who continue to support the event year after year.

He also reaffirmed the tournament’s commitment to channelling 100 per cent of golfers’ registration fees directly to charity, a practice that has been in place since 2024.

No golfer has managed to claim a hole-in-one prize this year, comprising a BMW X3, Porsche Macan EV, MINI Cooper, and a BND20,000 cash prize. Several golfers did come agonisingly close, including one shot that finished just five centimetres from a Porsche Macan EV on Hole 16.

Other notable near misses included 74 centimetres from the BND20,000 cash prize, 50 centimetres from the MINI Cooper, and one metre from the BMW X3.

The Baiduri Masters 2026 was supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as the official supporter. QAF Auto Sdn Bhd and QAF Prestige Sdn Bhd were the tournament’s event partners, contributing the BMW X3, MINI Cooper, and Porsche Macan EV offered as hole-in-one prizes throughout the tournament.

Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata served as the exclusive media partners, providing coverage across both weekends of competition.

As the final putts were holed and the trophies presented, the Baiduri Masters once again demonstrated that its impact extends well beyond the golf course. For more than three decades, it has remained a platform that brings people together to compete, contribute, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
