Maju Motors Sdn Bhd, the sole authorised distributor of BYD vehicles in Brunei Darussalam, officially launched the all-new BYD ATTO 2 at a public unveiling event at the BYD Showroom in Telanai. Brunei Darussalam is also the first country in ASEAN to introduce the BYD ATTO 2 DM-i, Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle Right-Hand Drive.
The BYD ATTO 2 was officially unveiled by Managing Director of Maju Motors Chan Key Hong, Executive Director Stanley Lim, Shi Rongke from the Embassy of China in Brunei Darussalam and Managing Director of BYD Singapore as well as President of BYD Philippines James Ng.
Chan Key Hong in his remarks revealed that a total of 1,008 BYD Sealion 6 units have been sold, making it the number one PHEV model in the country, while a total of 328 units of BYD Seal 5 have been sold in the country, making it the leader in the PHEV sedan segment. A total of 112 units of Sealion 8 have also been sold, making it the number one PHEV seven-seater SUV in the country.
Meanwhile, James Ng shared that BYD’s NEV sales from January to June 2026 stood at 1,808,511 units globally, whereas its overseas sales in June recorded 174,897 units.
Designed to make PHEV technology more affordable and efficient in Brunei, the BYD ATTO 2, a subcompact SUV, combines practicality, advanced technology and contemporary styling with BYD’s renowned super hybrid technology. Powered by a highly efficient 1.5-litre Xiaoyun engine paired with an electric motor, the ATTO 2 delivers 194 horsepower and 215Nm of torque, accelerating from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in just 8.9 seconds. With a combined driving range of up to 1,000 kilometres (WLTP), front-wheel drive and BYD’s intelligent hybrid system, the vehicle offers exceptional efficiency for both city commuting and long-distance travel.
The exterior adopts BYD’s signature dragon face design language, complemented by 18-inch alloy wheels, wrap-around LED tail lights and NFC card-supported keyless access. It is available in five colours: cosmos black, turquoise blue, sailor blue, ski white and harbour grey.
Inside, the ATTO 2 offers a premium cabin focused on comfort and technology, featuring top-tier seating comfort, a feature-packed intelligent cockpit and high-quality interior finishes designed to elevate the driving experience while maintaining everyday practicality.
During the launch, guests were given a presentation of the vehicle’s features and technology before experiencing the ATTO 2 firsthand through an exclusive showcase. The attendees also engaged with BYD representatives and learn more about the brand’s expanding portfolio and commitment to sustainable mobility in Brunei.
As part of the programme, a lucky draw was conducted exclusively for attending customers. Three winners were selected to receive complimentary servicing packages: Nur Maziah binti Haji Hasdiny, winner of a three-year servicing package; Md Muazzif bin Shahrin, winner of a five-year servicing package; and Pengiran Haji Noorasmali bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad, winner of a 10-year servicing package. – James Kon
