Some 301 participants from 18 Muslimah groups across Belait District took part in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque, Kuala Belait yesterday, in conjunction with the birthday celebration of Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam.
The event commenced with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Selawat Tafrijiyyah, Surah Al-Fatihah and other Al-Quran verses, followed by the Takhtim recitation and Khatam prayer.
The ceremony also featured Dikir Marhaban, prayers for well-being and safety, and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Certificates of participation were presented to the group leaders, while bunga telur were distributed to the participants.
The wife of Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Bukti Sawat Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Md Salleh bin Haji Othman, Jamaiyah binti Haji Abdul Hamid, was the guest of honour at the ceremony.
Organised by the Muslimah Affairs Committee of the Mosque Takmir Committee, the ceremony serves as a continued effort to support the nation’s aspiration of becoming a Zikir nation, while promoting the culture of reading and practising the teachings of Al-Quran and nurturing love for the holy book.
The participants began the recitation of Al-Quran earlier in January of this year, to express gratitude and respect in conjunction with Her Majesty’s birthday. The organiser hoped that the ceremony will continue to encourage participants to make Al-Quran recitation a regular practice, while also deepening their understanding of its teachings and contributing to making mosques vibrant centres of worship and religious activities within the community.
The ceremony also aimed to strengthen ties among Muslimah participants from various agencies and groups in Belait District, while fostering unity through the appreciation and regular recitation of Al-Quran. – Daniel Lim
