A full dress rehearsal for the upcoming get-together ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, with the people and residents of the Belait District, in conjunction with His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebrations, took place on Monday at the Municipal Field, Jalan Sultan, Kuala Belait, despite heavy morning rainfall.
Present to observe the full rehearsal was Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, in his capacity as Co-Adviser to the National Committee for His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebrations 2026.
Also in attendance were the Co-Chairmen of the National Committee for the celebrations, namely Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Manpower and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Public Service Governance) Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar; and Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid.
The Acting Grand Chamberlain from the Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, who serves as Joint Deputy Chairman of the National Committee, also attended the rehearsal.
Among those present were Legislative Council members; the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; the Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Permanent Secretaries from the Ministry of Home Affairs; the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health; Deputy Permanent Secretaries from the Ministry of Home Affairs; Acting Belait District Officers; and members of the National Committee overseeing His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebrations.
The get-together ceremony with the people and residents of the Belait District will be held on Saturday, August 1, at the aforementioned venue. The ceremony carries the theme ‘Raja Terbilang, Rakyat Gemilang’, which depicts the close bond between the Monarchy and the People. – Daniel Lim
