Some 46 traffic summonses were issued by Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) for various offences related to traffic regulations and vehicle safety, as well as other offences during a Joint Roadblock Operation along the Seria Highway and Lumut Highway in the Belait District.
Meanwhile, the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) detected four offences involving individuals who had overstayed in the country and those found working for employers other than stated in their employment permits.
The Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) uncovered nine offences involving the possession of contraband. The Land Transport Department (LTD) also took enforcement action on 11 offences related to traffic regulations and the safety requirements of heavy and commercial vehicles.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) detected one drug abuse case. During the roadblock inspection, the suspect was also found to be using a forged vehicle road tax license. The suspect was arrested to assist with investigations and further action. The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department of the RBPF for the offence of forging a government document.
The RBPF said it will continue to intensify similar operations from time to time to ensure compliance with the law and enhance road safety. The public is urged to comply with traffic regulations and to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and meet legal requirements.
Organised by the Belait Police District of the RBPF, the joint operation involved 74 officers and personnel from the RBPF, the INRD, the RCED, the Religious Enforcement Division, the NCB and the LTD. – JAMES KON
