Boost for local cybersecurity talent

Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (COSMO) and Information Technology Protective Security Services (ITPSS) Sdn Bhd officially formalised a strategic partnership today through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The landmark agreement aims to bridge academic learning with real-world industry demands in information technology and cybersecurity.

Present at the MoU signing was the Chief Executive Officer of ITPSS Azman Iskandar Ariffin together with the senior officers or the organisation. COSMO is represented by General Manager Michelle Centeno and Principal and the leadership team of the college Asfadillah Isham.

The partnership establishes a comprehensive framework designed to enrich the practical skills and career readiness of COSMO’s Learning Partners through direct exposure to ITPSS’s industry expertise.

Key initiatives under the MOU include student internships, guest lectures, expert mentorship, practical hands-on workshops, public cybersecurity awareness campaigns, professional development programmes, and joint collaborative projects.

Building on the strong foundation of their existing collaboration, the partnership is further supported by the guidance of Cyber Security Brunei (CSB), ensuring that these initiatives remain aligned with the country’s existing cybersecurity frameworks and contribute to the development of a pragmatic and sustainable cybersecurity ecosystem in Brunei Darussalam.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Principal of Cosmopolitan College highlighted that the partnership goes beyond a formal agreement, serving as a gateway for students to gain vital industry insight.

“Today’s signing is not simply about putting our signatures on an agreement. More importantly, it is about creating opportunities for our Learning Partners to experience what happens beyond the classroom and to better understand the expectations, challenges, and opportunities within the industry,” Principal of COSMO Asfadillah Salim stated during his welcoming remarks.

“As an educational institution, we recognise that what our Learning Partners learn academically must be complemented by exposure to real industry practices and professionals.”

The collaboration establishes a two-way pathway: while COSMO students gain exposure to cutting-edge cybersecurity environments, ITPSS and the wider industry gain access to job-ready local talent tailored to meet evolving digital demands.
