Educational and cultural ties between Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman continue to be strengthened through the At-Tau’amah Cultural and Educational Exchange Programme, bringing students from both countries together to share knowledge, culture, and experiences while enhancing their Arabic communication skills.
The virtual programme held yesterday involved eight schools, comprising four from Brunei Darussalam and four from Oman.
Organised by the Ta’zeez Al-Lughah Al-‘Arabiah Unit of the Arabic Schools Division under the Islamic Studies Department (JPI) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, in collaboration with Oman’s Ministry of Education, this year’s programme marks its third edition since its introduction in 2021.
The online event was attended by Director of the Department of Heritage and Cultural Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Dr Younis bin Jamil Al-Naamani as the guest of honour. It commenced with welcoming remarks by Secretary-General of the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Dr Mahmoud Abdullah Al Abri.
Head of the Ta’zeez Al-Lughah Al-‘Arabiah Unit of the Arabic Schools Division at JPI Dr Hajah Norasimah binti Haji Talip, who serves as the At-Tau’amah Programme Coordinator for Brunei Darussalam, noted that the event is hoped to serve as a platform for sharing experiences, enhancing skills, and promoting interaction in the teaching of Arabic across Arabic and religious schools, contributing to greater proficiency and effectiveness in Arabic language instruction. The programme proceeded with an introduction to the initiative by the Omani delegation, followed by experience-sharing sessions by former participants, before concluding with a virtual group photograph.
Eight online sessions have been arranged for teachers and students from Arabic schools to engage in discussions and exchange views on various themes concerning culture, education, technology, language, and nationhood, with Arabic serving as the medium of communication.
