Acting Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence, Republic of Singapore Zaqy Mohamad visited Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong yesterday.
He was welcomed by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious Affairs) at the MoRA Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar.
During the visit, Zaqy Mohamad and his delegation watched a video presentation on Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah before signing the visitors’ book. A souvenir was presented to the Singaporean minister by the permanent secretary. The delegation also toured the mosque’s surroundings before concluding the visit with a group photograph.
The visit reflected the close ties and mutual respect between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, particularly in matters relating to Muslim affairs. It also provided an opportunity for both sides to share experiences in mosque management, community programmes and initiatives aimed at developing and strengthening the Muslim community.
The Singaporean minister is currently on a visit to Brunei Darussalam from October 11 to 13, 2026. – Lyna Mohamad
