Brunei-Muara was the only district to record moderate air quality Tuesday morning, with a Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading of 51, while the other three districts recorded good air quality.
Air quality in Brunei-Muara deteriorated from good to moderate between 7am and 9am on Tuesday, with its PSI rising from 33 to 51.
According to the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), the Ministry of Development, the 9am readings showed Belait recording a PSI of 32, Temburong 31 and Tutong 50, all within the good category.
At 7am, all four districts recorded good air quality, with readings of 33 in Brunei-Muara, 36 in Belait, 11 in Temburong and 11 in Tutong.
Compared with the earlier readings, Belait’s PSI fell by four points, while Temburong’s rose by 20 points and Tutong’s increased by 39 points.
A PSI reading below 50 indicates good air quality, while readings between 51 and 100 are classified as moderate. Readings of 101 to 200 are unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and above 300 hazardous.
