Basked in bright, pleasant weather, citizens and residents from all walks of life gathered at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital to express their heartfelt love and gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, during the Royal Get-Together Ceremony for the Brunei-Muara District on Wednesday.
The event drew thousands who came together in a spirit of unity and gratitude to honour their beloved Monarch, who is deeply admired for his close bond with the people.
His Majesty was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty and the royal entourage were received by Chief of Adat Istiadat as Co-Advisor of the National Committee for the celebrations, YAM Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Manpower and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Co-Chairman of the National Committee for the celebrations.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by a special stage performance themed Menjunjung Raja Tampuk Negara (Honouring the Monarch, Pillar of the Nation), featuring more than 200 participants.
His Majesty and members of the royal family later proceeded to the main stage for a group photograph with the performers to commemorate their participation in the celebration. They then joined the Royal Get-Together Ceremony with the people and residents of the Brunei-Muara District, where thousands of members of the public had the opportunity to greet the Monarch during the annual celebration.
Following the meet-and-greet session, His Majesty and members of the royal family proceeded to An-Naura Hall at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex for a santap (luncheon).
The ceremony concluded with the recital of Doa Selamat, offering prayers for His Majesty’s continued good health, happiness and a long reign, as well as for the continued peace and prosperity of Brunei Darussalam.
The joyous occasion was a heartfelt expression of the people’s gratitude, affection and unwavering loyalty to the Monarch.
It also reflected their appreciation of His Majesty’s visionary and compassionate leadership, which continues to safeguard Brunei Darussalam’s peace, prosperity and harmony, enabling its people to live in unity and progress under his wise guidance. – Lyna Mohamad
