Preparations for Brunei Darussalam’s haj pilgrims for the 1448 Hijrah/2027 Haj season are being stepped up, with key arrangements including the haj quota, flights, requirements and medical services discussed during an online preparatory management meeting on Tuesday.
The meeting was jointly held by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and the Ministry of Haj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure the management and preparations for Brunei’s haj pilgrims are carried out in an organised, smooth and effective manner.
The meeting was held at the Musyawarah Room, Level 4, Darul Itqan Building, MoRA, Jalan Dewan Majlis, Berakas.
Representing the Ministry of Religious Affairs was Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Awang Haji Ahmad as the Chairperson.
Permanent Secretary (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transport) at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Suhara Fadzali bin Haji Yusop, representing the Permanent Secretary at the MTIC; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health Dr Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Gharif, representing the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH), also attended.
Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious Affairs) at the MoRA Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar, Acting Consul General of Brunei Darussalam in Jeddah Nur Farahanah binti Haji Sarbini, Director-General of Medical and Health Services at, MoH Pengiran Dr Haji Md Khalifah bin Pengiran Haji Ismail, Director of Haj Affairs, MoRA Haji Abdullah bin Haji Mohamad and other officials also joined the meeting.
Among the matters discussed were the quota for haj pilgrims and officers of the Brunei Darussalam Haj Affairs Office (PUJH), haj requirements and conditions, haj flights, medical and healthcare services, as well as haj reporting media arrangements for the 1448 Hijrah/2027 Haj season.
The meeting also reviewed issues arising from the management of the 1447 Hijrah/2026 Haj season, with proposed improvements discussed to further enhance the management and services provided to haj pilgrims during the upcoming
season.
The outcomes of the meeting will be brought to the ministerial level for further discussion during the 6th Edition of the Haj Conference and Exhibition, scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia in November 2026.
