A seven-member delegation comprising a representative of the Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) and six youth from the Department of Youth and Sports under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports left the country yesterday to participate in the ASEAN Youth Summit on Digital Resilience and Responsible Use of New Technologies, to be held from August 5-6 in Pasay City, Metro Manila, the Philippines.
Acting Youth and Sports Officer Mohamad Ali Noh bin Haji Masri is leading the delegation.
Throughout the summit, delegates will participate in a range of sessions, including plenary discussions, policy dialogues, group discussions, the sharing of best practices, presentations by regional experts, and networking activities with youth delegates from ASEAN member states. The summit will also provide participants with the opportunity to exchange views on the role of youth in strengthening digital resilience and promoting the responsible use of emerging technologies.
This year’s summit focuses on empowering ASEAN youth to address the challenges of the digital era by enhancing digital literacy, building resilience against online threats, encouraging the ethical use of new technologies, and strengthening regional cooperation to foster a safe, inclusive, and sustainable digital ecosystem.
Through the summit, the Brunei delegation is expected to expand regional networks and bring home ideas, experiences and best practices that can contribute to strengthening youth development initiatives in the country.
Director of Youth and Sports Hajah Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim was present at the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to the delegation. – James Kon
