Assistant State Mufti (Ifta’) Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Dennie bin Haji Abdullah departed for Cairo, Egypt yesterday to attend the 11th International Conference of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide from September 2 to 3, 2026.
He is attending the conference as a representative of State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
The conference, themed ‘Family Challenges in Facing Major Transformations: A Fatwa Approach to Protecting the Family Institution, Anticipating Its Future and Preserving Identity’ and held under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, aims to establish a systematic approach to addressing and understanding changes in contemporary family life. The approach will integrate accurate scholarly analysis, structured contributions from fatwas and strong forward-looking perspectives focused on the future.
Hosted by Dar al-Ifta of Egypt, the conference is expected to bring together scholars, muftis, and researchers from 80 countries, with Brunei’s participation at the invitation of Egypt’s Grand Mufti and the President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide Ustaz Dr Nazir Muhammad ‘Ayyad.
Accompanying Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Dennie was Istinbat Officer at the State Mufti’s Department Haji Khairul Anwar bin Haji Muhammad.
