Cyber Security Brunei (CSB), representing Brunei Darussalam was awarded First Prize in the Global Quantum Drill 2026 held from September 17 to 18, 2026, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai alongside GISEC Global 2026.
The achievement saw Brunei Darussalam as the top-performing country among 81 participating countries in the Global Quantum Drill. Kazakhstan secured the second prize and Egypt the third prize.
Representing Brunei Darussalam were Isyrah Fahmi bin Osman, Abdul Muqsit bin Haji Jafari and Muhammad Fakhriy Muazzam bin Haji Zamain from CSB, who participated in the exercise.
The First Prize award was presented to the CSB team by Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government Dr Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, in recognition of their outstanding performance in the Global Quantum Drill 2026.
The Global Quantum Drill 2026 was organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), hosted by the UAE Cybersecurity Council, bringing together cybersecurity professionals and technical teams from 81 countries to strengthen preparedness for emerging cybersecurity challenges related to quantum technologies. The exercise provided participants with practical scenarios focusing on the potential impact of quantum computing on current cybersecurity practices, particularly in relation to postquantum cryptography and quantum-related risks.
Participants were required to work through different scenarios, including ‘The Long Tail – Quantum Risk in the Incident Queue’, which focused on responding to simulated quantum-related incidents, as well as ‘Kill Two Birds with One Stone’, a technical challenge involving post-quantum cryptographic mechanisms and their implementation.
The achievement provides an opportunity for CSB to develop Brunei Darussalam’s capabilities in cybersecurity and its continued participation in international initiatives further. This also highlights the importance of developing technical expertise and keeping pace with emerging areas of cybersecurity, particularly as quantum technologies continue to develop.
The First Prize achievement marks CSB’s efforts in developing national cybersecurity capabilities and representing Brunei Darussalam on the international stage.
