Brunei youth off to Seoul for exchange programme

A 15-member Brunei Darussalam delegation, including 12 youth, left the Sultanate on Tuesday night to participate in the Brunei Darussalam-Republic of Korea Youth Exchange Programme 2026, in Seoul from October 14 to 23, 2026.

Special Duties Officer Level I Mohamad Adi Hamdi bin Haji Aminuddin was present at the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to the delegation.

The delegation is led by Acting Assistant Youth and Sports Affairs Officer Norainah binti Haji Abdul Hadi, and comprises an assistant head of delegation, an interpreter and the youth participants.

The programme is organised by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with the Korea Youth Work Agency (KYWA). It’s a continuation of the youth exchange programme between the two countries, which has been held since 2009 and follows the visit by a youth delegation from the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam from June 24 to July 3, 2026.

During the programme, the delegation will pay a courtesy call on MOGEF, participate in artificial intelligence (AI)-based youth activity workshops with the KYWA Junior Board, take part in thematic discussions with South Korean youth, and stage cultural exchange performances to showcase Brunei Darussalam’s culture and heritage. The delegation is also scheduled to visit the Seoul Future Lab, Yatap Youth Center, Uiwang Youth Foundation, Seongdong AI and Future Technology Experience Center, and Seoul Robot and AI Museum. The programme will also include a homestay with host families and cultural immersion activities.

The youth participants are members of the Y-LITE (Youth – Leadership, Innovation, Talents and Empowerment) programme, a youth development training platform organised by the Department of Youth and Sports. The programme aims to develop young people’s leadership, potential and capabilities, preparing them to represent the country in regional and international youth programmes.

The exchange programme also aims to strengthen bilateral relations and mutual understanding between youth of both countries, provide opportunities to exchange ideas and best practices in youth development, and expose participants to advancements in technology and innovation. – James Kon
