The roar of motorcycle engines and live music enlivened Belait as more than 500 motorcycles and enthusiasts from Brunei Darussalam and neighbouring regions gathered at the parking area around the Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) recently.
The event organised by the Mukim and Village Consultative Council (MPK) of RPN Kampong Lumut, aimed to bring people together through lifestyle, music and community activities, while empowering local talent and stimulating tourism and economic activity in Belait District.
Organising chairman Faisal Ismail said the event was held under the theme ‘Lifestyle, Music & Community’. “The gathering brought together more than 500 motorcycles and motorcycling enthusiasts in a lively atmosphere characterised by camaraderie and a shared passion for motorcycles,” Faisal said, adding that participants came from various parts of Brunei and neighbouring countries, including Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan and Kalimantan.
He said the participation from across the region demonstrated how a shared interest in motorcycling could transcend geographical boundaries and unite people from diverse backgrounds.
“Such gatherings also provide opportunities to build friendships, exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation among motorcycling communities across Borneo.”
The event also featured a Battle of the Band competition involving 18 local music groups, showcasing a variety of genres and the diversity of talent and creativity in Brunei’s music scene. The performances provided an opportunity for the bands to introduce their artistic identities to a wider audience.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin officiated the event and toured booths and exhibitions.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Mohammad Harris bin Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim and Deputy Permanent Secretary Haji Mohd Yusree bin Haji Junaidi were also present. – Daniel Lim
