A campaign video promoting the responsible management and disposal of expired or unused medicines was launched as part of the C.A.R.E. (Creating Awareness on Responsible Management and Disposal of Expired or Unused Medicines) Campaign, carrying the message ‘Your Medicine, Your Responsibility’.
The C.A.R.E. Campaign is a community outreach project undertaken by Action Hearts group as part of the 37th Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officers (EDPMMO-37), in collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health.
The project aims to improve public understanding of the importance of managing expired and unused medicines responsibly. Medicines that have expired or are no longer required should be handled appropriately, as improper storage and disposal may pose risks to households and contribute to environmental contamination. As part of the project, the group conducted a community survey to better understand public knowledge, practices and perceptions regarding the storage and disposal of expired or unused medicines. The findings helped identify gaps in knowledge and informed the focus and development of the campaign’s outreach activities.
Director of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health Hajah Zanatul ‘Aini binti Haji Zainin was the Guest of Honour. Director of the Civil Service Institute Dr Hajah Noor Maya binti Haji Md Salleh was also present.
