Members of the local media had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Chery TIGGO Cross Turbo and TIGGO 7 PHEV ahead of their upcoming official launch in Brunei Darussalam, with a media test drive event on Saturday giving the opportunity to experience Chery’s latest TIGGO SUV line-up first-hand.
Hosted exclusively by Bee Motors Sdn Bhd, the authorised dealer of Chery vehicles in the Sultanate, the participants also had the opportunity to test drive the TIGGO Cross HEV and TIGGO 8 PHEV, offering an early preview of two additional models set to join Chery Brunei’s line-up at a later date.
Designed as a compact SUV for everyday urban driving, the TIGGO Cross Turbo is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 144.5HP and 210Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed dual clutch transmission. Inside, dual 10.25-inch displays provide a modern and connected cabin experience, complemented by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a voice assistant, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning and ambient lighting. Its safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree HD camera and a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The TIGGO 7 PHEV introduces Chery Super Hybrid technology, combining a dedicated 1.5-litre TGDi hybrid engine, dedicated hybrid transmission and motors, and an 18.3kWh battery.
Delivering a combined maximum output of 275HP and 365Nm of torque, the TIGGO 7 PHEV offers a total combined driving range of up to 1,200km and also supports DC fast charging in approximately 20 minutes, alongside AC charging options and vehicle-to-load capability.
The TIGGO 7 PHEV achieved a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating with an overall score of 94.68 points under the ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 assessment protocol.
The model achieved 40.00 points for Adult Occupant Protection and 20.00 points for Safety Assist, reinforcing its safety credentials for motorists in the region. Its safety features are complemented by eight airbags, a 540-degree HD panoramic camera and 21 ADAS designed to enhance driver awareness, safety and confidence on the road.
The cabin features a 24.6-inch integrated curved dual screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, with front ventilated and heated seats, 50W wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-speaker SONY premium audio system.

The TIGGO Cross Turbo and TIGGO 7 PHEV offer two distinct propositions for the Brunei market, while the TIGGO Cross HEV and TIGGO 8 PHEV provide an exciting preview of what is still to come,” said Head of Chery Brunei, Bee Motors Sdn Bhd James Chin.
The public will also have the opportunity to experience the latest Chery models first-hand at the Chery Public Test Drive from September 4 to 6, 2026, at HWC Coffee, Sunway from noon to 8pm, where visitors are invited to get behind the wheel and experience the vehicles for themselves ahead of their official introduction to the Brunei market.
