The tourism sector in Brunei Darussalam shows encouraging signs of recovery and growth. As of August this year, Brunei Darussalam have already welcomed more than 28,000 tourists from the People's Republic of China as the country's second largest source market, representing over 15 percent of total air arrivals. The matter was shared during the Chinese Language Workshop Opening Ceremony and Capacity Building for ASEAN Member States Tourism Professionals. The event took place at Laksamana College of Business, 9th October morning.
Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism said the data clearly proves that tourism and relations between Brunei Darussalam and China are recovering strongly. Jointly organised with the ASEAN-China Centre, the workshop aims to elevate the ASEAN tourism sector by equipping product managers and tourist guides with a more professional, better-equipped regional tourism workforce, capable of providing richer and more engaging experiences for Chinese tourists, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth of ASEAN tourism. The two day event brings together product managers and tourist guides from ASEAN and Timor-Leste.
