Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School (SMPDSM) hosted the sharing session ‘Memperkasa kejayaan anakku 3.0’ programme for parents and guardians of (Tier 1 and Tier 2) students on Tuesday where Principal Haji Malai Shah Eran bin Syed Haji Yussof Al-Idrus highlighted that the programme is specifically organised for parents and guardians of Year 11 students in 2026.
He said it involves students in Tier 1, comprising those who achieved six or more credits in the Qualifying Assessment, and Tier 2, comprising those who achieved between three and five credits overall.
Although their levels of achievement may differ, he said, “Our goal remains the same – to support every student in reaching their full potential in the upcoming ‘O’ Level/IGCSE examinations.”
Through the workshop, he shared, “Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to gain knowledge, share experiences, and exchange ideas and effective strategies for supporting their children at home.
“Together, we will explore ways to strengthen study discipline, manage time effectively, overcome challenges and build students’ confidence, enabling them to improve their performance and strive for excellence.”
He emphasised, “The success of our children is not achieved through their efforts alone, but through close collaboration between schools, families and the community. With the continued support of parents, the guidance of dedicated teachers, and the commitment and hard work of the students themselves, I am confident that we can see more students achieve outstanding results in their ‘O’ Level/IGCSE examinations.”
The programme’s objectives is to provide parents and guardians with an understanding of their role in supporting their children’s success ahead of major examinations.
It also aims to provide a constructive platform for interaction between the school and parents or guardians to discuss academic strategies and student motivation; raise awareness of the importance of a three-way partnership between the school, parents or guardians, and students in ensuring educational success; foster a culture of continuous moral and emotional support from parents to their children; and to improve the academic performance of Tier 1 and Tier 2 Year 11 students in the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination.
