In conjunction with the International Day of Older Persons celebrated every 1st of October, the Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Bridge and the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium were lit up in golden yellow light. The initiative not only commemorates the sacrifices made by the senior citizens in contributing towards the country's development, but also acts as an appreciation towards the senior citizens.
The colour was selected as the official colour of the International Day of Older Persons. It reflects the journey of senior citizens entering their golden age, and their wealth of experience as well as knowledge that can be utilised by the younger generation as guidance.
