Commitment to Brunei through leadership engagements reinforced

Standard Chartered Brunei recently welcomed Chief Executive Officer of Singapore and Chief Executive Officer, ASEAN & South Asia, Standard Chartered Patrick Lee for a visit focused on deepening engagement with key stakeholders, clients and colleagues in Brunei.

During his visit, Patrick met with key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, providing an opportunity to discuss the economic outlook, emerging opportunities and developments shaping the business environment in Brunei and the wider region. The engagements also reaffirmed Standard Chartered’s commitment to supporting the country’s growth ambitions through its international network and expertise.

Patrick also engaged with the bank’s corporate clients, bringing together business leaders and representatives from various sectors for discussions on regional economic trends, market developments and opportunities for growth in an evolving global landscape.

The session provided a platform for exchanging perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing businesses today, while highlighting the importance of connectivity and collaboration across markets. Speaking on the visit, Patrick said, “Brunei remains an important market within our ASEAN network, where Standard Chartered is in most ASEAN markets. ASEAN is one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest growing economic regions, home to over 700 million people. It is rich in growth opportunities for businesses.

“With our strong regional presence – being the bank in the most ASEAN markets – and our global network, we act as a super connector, helping clients navigate regulatory complexity, connect across markets, unlock innovation, and build resilience.

“I am encouraged by the strong relationships we have built with our clients, stakeholders and communities here. The conversations throughout this visit highlighted the importance of partnership, resilience and innovation in navigating an increasingly dynamic environment. We remain committed to connecting our clients to opportunities across our international network and supporting their ambitions for growth.”

In addition to the external engagements, Patrick also spent time with colleagues across the bank through a series of staff engagement sessions. These interactions provided an opportunity to connect with employees, share perspectives on the bank’s priorities and strategy, and recognise the contributions of colleagues who continue to drive the bank’s success in Brunei.

Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Brunei Pengiran Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim said, “We are delighted to welcome Patrick to Brunei and have the opportunity for him to engage directly with our key stakeholders, clients and colleagues. His visit underscores the importance of Brunei within Standard Chartered’s network and reflects our commitment to maintaining strong relationships with the communities we serve.

“The engagements throughout the visit enabled meaningful discussions on the opportunities and challenges shaping our market, while reinforcing our shared commitment to supporting sustainable growth and prosperity in Brunei.”
