Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah (MD) organised a blood donation drive yesterday in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.
Held from the morning until afternoon, the initiative brought together members of the MD community in support of the national blood supply.
A total of 62 donors participated successfully, contributing 62 pints of blood for use by RIPAS Hospital to assist patients in need, including accident victims, surgical patients and individuals requiring blood as part of ongoing medical treatment.
The medical team from the RIPAS Blood Donation Centre was led by Dr Nang Nway Nway Lone, who oversaw the blood donation process and ensured that donors underwent the health screening and procedures.
According to Head of Health, Safety and Environment at MD Armacester binti Haji Arsad, the blood drive was organised not only to contribute directly to the blood supply at RIPAS Hospital, but also to cultivate greater awareness among MDians of the importance of becoming regular blood donors.
“The blood donation drive provides our MD community with an opportunity to make a direct and meaningful contribution towards saving lives. At the same time, we hope to nurture a stronger spirit of volunteerism, compassion and social responsibility among our students and staff,” she said.
She added that the initiative also encourages members of the college community to recognise the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, particularly for those who wish to remain eligible to donate blood regularly.
The programme strengthened collaboration between MD and the RIPAS Blood Donation Centre in supporting a common humanitarian cause.
