Consumer Price Index for August 2025

The Consumer Price Index, CPI for August 2025 showed a 0.4 per cent decrease in comparison to August 2024. This was driven by a decline in the index of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages as well as the index of Non-Food items. The decrease in the index of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages was primarily contributed by the drop in the prices of Vegetables, especially red onions, and the prices of Meat, particularly chicken meat.

Meanwhile, for the Non-Food index, the decline was driven by differences in exchange rates for online media subscription services and changes in motor vehicle insurance costs. For month-to-month comparison, the CPI for August 2025 stumbled by 0.2 per cent from July 2025. This was due to a drop in the Non-Food index, whereas the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index showed an increase. The full report of the CPI for August 2025 is available on the JPES website.
