Course boosts clean sport efforts

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, through the Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee (BDADC), organised the 2026 Doping Control Officer (DCO) Course at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

The course was held on September 25 and 27, 2026 followed by additional sessions on October 2 and 4, 2026.

The programme aimed to increase the number of skilled and knowledgeable Doping Control Officers in the country, particularly in implementing doping control procedures in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) International Standards.

Doping control involves collecting athletes’ samples, including urine or blood, under strict procedures, conducted professionally, free from conflicts of interest, transparently and in accordance with WADA standards, to ensure a level playing field and protect clean sport.

The initiative also aims to meet the nation’s growing demand for doping tests. BDADC Chief Doping Control Officer Mohammad Yussof bin Yaakub, who served as the course’s lead facilitator, conducted the course and was assisted by BDADC Doping Control Officers.

Deputy Chairman of BDADC Sukardi bin Kaderi was the guest of honour during the official closing ceremony, where he also presented certificates to the course participants.
