The creativity of village residents in producing a product can develop the village itself. The variety of products produced without relying on just one product can indirectly increase economic activity in the village. This is what is being practised by some residents of Kampung Bukit Beruang in the Tutong District.
Usually, products under the One Village, One Product, 1K1P Programme focus on local handicrafts and pastries. However, the residents of Kampung Bukit Beruang have their own creativity by producing a pastry product from Japan, namely Mochi Cake. The production of this dessert cake can indirectly become a source of income for the village residents.
This newly merged product under 1K1P also often participates in local food expo and festivals to further promote the product. Aside from that, there are also plans to open a Mochi Cake making class for youth. This effort also provides opportunities for other youth to become active in the field of entrepreneurship.
