Brunei Darussalam recently welcomed the arrival of Adora Magic City, carrying 3,792 international passengers and 1,205 crew members. The vessel made its maiden call to the Sultanate after arriving from Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, as part of its regional voyage before continuing its journey to Vietnam.
The arrival marked another milestone in Brunei Darussalam’s efforts to strengthen its appeal as a tourism destination for Chinese travellers, while further enhancing the Sultanate’s presence within the regional cruise tourism market.
Upon arrival, passengers received a warm welcome with traditional gulingtangan music and dance performances, offering them an introduction to Brunei Darussalam’s rich cultural heritage and hospitality.
During their port of call, passengers visited several of Brunei Darussalam’s attractions, including Istana Nurul Iman, Kampong Ayer, Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah and the Royal Regalia Museum, among other places of interest.
The visit also provided passengers an opportunity to experience Brunei Darussalam’s peaceful environment, local culture and hospitality.
According to the Tourism Development Department (TDD), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, visitors from the cruise ship also shared positive impressions of their experience in Brunei Darussalam.
Han, a passenger from China, described the visit as a pleasant experience, highlighting Brunei’s peaceful environment and friendly people. Another passenger, Lee found Brunei to be a great country and enjoyed the opportunity to explore the Sultanate during the port of call.
Meanwhile, Wang also commented positively on his experience, particularly appreciating Brunei’s peaceful atmosphere and warm hospitality.
The arrival of Adora Magic City highlights the growing interest in Brunei Darussalam as a regional cruise destination and contributes positively to the local tourism industry by supporting tour operators, transportation providers, guides, restaurants and other tourism-related businesses.
The vessel represents the largest cruise ship call to Brunei Darussalam to date in terms of passenger capacity on a single visit and marks the 19th international cruise ship to visit the Sultanate this year.
The TDD looks forward to welcoming more than 10 additional international cruise ships before the end of 2026, bringing more visitors to Brunei Darussalam and strengthening the Sultanate’s position within the regional cruise tourism sector.
