The Cybercrime Investigation Unit, Criminal Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force continued its efforts to raise public awareness on cybercrime through two separate briefings for government personnel at the Institute of Public Service (IPA).
The first session, held under the Digital Literacy Programme, was attended by 30 government personnel and focused on the importance of digital literacy and identifying risks associated with Internet use.
Meanwhile, the second session, conducted under the Public Service Induction Programme, was attended by 181 newly recruited government personnel, emphasising the responsibilities and integrity of public servants in the digital era.
Both sessions were delivered by Chief Inspector Adinin bin Haji Ahmad, who highlighted current cybercrime trends, including investment scams, loan scams and impersonation of government agencies.
The participants were also reminded not to hand over, rent out or lend their SIM cards or bank accounts to third parties, as these could be misused for criminal activities. The programmes aimed to enhance awareness among public servants of the growing threats posed by cybercrime. The public can also contact the Anti-Scam Helpline at 16993 to provide information related to fraudulent activities.
