Cybercrime briefing highlights dangers of account mules

The Cybercrime Investigation Division (BSJS) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recently conducted an ‘Online Scams’ briefing for 50 employees of the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) at Anggerek Desa.

The briefing, delivered by Chief Inspector Adinin bin Haji Ahmad, provided participants with an insight into the modus operandi of online scams, while raising awareness of the offence of becoming an account mule and the preventive measures that can be taken to avoid falling victim to cybercrime.

The BSJS will continue to strengthen collaboration with government and private-sector agencies in expanding public awareness efforts to curb cybercrime in the country. – James Kon
