A 21-gun salute marked the conclusion of the 12-night Dikir Maulud Nabi held in conjunction with the 1448 Hijrah Maulidur Rasul celebration. The closing ceremony of the 12-night Dikir Maulud was held on Monday evening at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong, with Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan as the guest of honour.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by a religious talk delivered by Religious Development Officer at the Islamic Dakwah Centre Haji Muhammad Najib bin Haji Awang.
The programme then continued with Dikir Maulud. The Dikir Syarafil Anam gatherings, held at mosques, suraus and prayer halls nationwide for 12 consecutive nights beginning on 1 Rabiulawal 1448 Hijrah, formed part of the country’s efforts to commemorate and enliven the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Beyond seeking Allah the Almighty’s blessings and mercy, the gatherings aimed to nurture greater awareness and reflection among Muslims on the contributions and sacrifices of the Prophet in spreading Islam.
Reciting selawat upon Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is also regarded as a virtuous practice that strengthens the identity and character of Muslims.
According to a hadith narrated by Imam Muslim from Abu Hurairah RA, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that whoever sends blessings upon him, Allah the Almighty will send blessings upon that person tenfold.
Such gatherings also serve as an expression of Islamic identity and contribute towards enlivening mosques, while strengthening ties between officers and staff of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), mosque congregants and local communities.
Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious Affairs) at the MoRA Awang Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar, Ra’es of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Arman bin Haji Asmad, directors, senior officers and staff of the ministry as well as congregants were present.
