Dikir ceremonies mark Maulidur Rasul observance

The atmosphere at the Surau of Istana Nurul Iman was enlivened yesterday evening with the recitation of Dikir Maulud as part of the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) for the year 1448 Hijrah, with the seventh night attended by 225 people.

Among those attending the Dikir ceremony was Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan.

The gathering also comprised members from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Dikir Group of Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, the Dikir Group of the Brunei International Airport Surau Congregation, Penanjong MPC, the Takmir Committee, Muslimah and Mosque Youth Group (KBM) of An-Na’im Mosque at Kampong Panchor Mengkubau, as well as the Islamic Studies Department, General Schools Division.

The programme continued with a religious talk titled ‘Menyemai Cinta Rasulullah SAW’, which explored the history of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through ‘Doa Memohon Keberkatan Dunia dan Akhirat’, by Muhammad Safwan bin Mohd Suffian. The event continued with performances of Dikir Assalamualaika, Dikir Asyrakal, Dikir Khairuman and other Dikir recitations, before concluding with the recitation of the Doa Dikir and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

The Dikir Maulud is part of a series of activities being held over 12 consecutive nights, culminating on 12 Rabiulawal 1448 Hijrah, corresponding to August 24, 2026. – Daniel Lim

Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Department of Administration and Services; the Department of Planning, Development and Research; and the Science, Technology and Environment Partnership Centre (STEP) on Tuesday held a Dikir Ceremony in conjunction with the Maulud Nabi Muhammad SAW celebration at Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati (STKRJ) Kampong Lambak Kiri Mosque.

Deputy Minister of Education Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the presentation of wakaf contributions from officers and staff of the MoE, handed over by the guest of honour to Imam Grade III, STKRJ Kampong Lambak Kiri Mosque Muhammad Wafiuddin bin Muhammad Wajeeh, followed by a mass Maghrib prayer.

The ceremony continued with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the guest of honour, marking the start of the Dikir Syarafil Anam recitation. Following the mass Isyak prayer, the ceremony proceeded with the recitation of Dikir Marhaban and concluded with the closing prayer for the Dikir session.

This ceremony is one of the MoE’s annual activities to enliven the Maulidur Rasul celebration by reciting selawat and praising Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a gesture of devotion and gratitude for his contributions.

Additionally, the ceremony aims to further enhance the celebration of Islamic holy days while strengthening the relationship between the officers and staff of the MoE and the mosque congregation. Also in attendance were Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), vice chancellors, rector, deputy permanent secretary, heads of departments, officers and staff of the ministry, as well as members of the STKRJ Kampong Lambak Kiri Mosque Management Committee. – James Kon

Ministry of Religious Affairs

The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ (MoRA) Dikir Group continued its Majlis Ihya Maulidur Rasul on Tuesday at Kampong Danau Mosque, Tutong District, in conjunction with the 1448 Hijrah Maulud Nabi Muhammad SAW Celebration.

The event also formed part of efforts to enliven and strengthen the role of the mosque, while providing a platform to foster closer ties between officers and staff of the MoRA, mosque congregants and residents of the surrounding village.

Leading the delegation was Permanent Secretary at MoRA Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad. The event featured a religious talk by Mosque Affairs Officer at Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah Mosque, Kampong Sungai Kelugos, Tutong District Muhammad Jalaluddin bin Junaidi.

The event continued with Dikir Maulud and to bless the gathering, Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam was recited by Imam of Kampong Danau Mosque, Tutong District Abdul Hadi bin Abd Rahman.

Dikir Maulud ceremonies at mosques nationwide are being held simultaneously from 1 Rabiulawal 1448 Hijrah, after the Maghrib prayer, and will continue for 12 consecutive nights until 12 Rabiulawal 1448 Hijrah, corresponding to August 24, 2026. – James Kon
