Ninety-six heads of families, who were impacted by natural disasters, including floods, strong winds, fire incidents and collapsed structures, received financial assistance totalling BND86,300 from the government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, through the Community Development Department (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), at the Lecture Hall, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.
According to the JAPEM, out of the total number of heads of families who received financial assistance today, 78 were affected by floods, 10 were house fire victims, four were victims of collapsed or unsafe structures, and four were victims of strong winds that caused roof damage.
As supplemental support, two heads of families affected by house fires also received dry food rations. All victims and residents involved in these disasters are safe and sustained no injuries.
The provision of the financial assistance aimed to alleviate the burden and hardship borne by disaster victims, while safeguarding the welfare and well-being of their families.
This effort reflects the government’s care and concern for citizens and residents affected by misfortune.
Permanent Secretary at the MCYS Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman handed over the financial assistance to the disaster victims. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah was also present.
