MS ABDB emerged champions in both categories of the Belait District Tug of War Competition at the Municipal Field in Seria recently.
Organised by the Village Consultative Council (MPK) of PN Kampong Panaga ‘B’ and ‘C’ in collaboration with the Belait District Office, the competition was held in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The competition aimed to bring together tug-of-war teams from across the country to compete and share their passion for the sport, while promoting the discipline to the surrounding community.
Teams competed in two categories: lightweight 560kg and heavyweight 720kg.
In the lightweight 560kg category, MS ABDB defeated One X One in the final to claim the title, leaving their opponents in second place. MS PPDB finished third, followed by SPSS Tuggers in fourth.
MS ABDB repeated the feat in the heavyweight 720kg category, overcoming One X One in the final to secure their second title of the competition. MS PPDB took third place, while Bros Extreme finished fourth.
Penghulu of Mukim Seria Mohammad Zairul Halfi bin Talip presented the prizes. – Daniel Lim
